problems with connecting ps4 controller to pc

i connected a ps4 controller for pc and there are some issues. when i press down on the d-pad it skips 2 instead of going down 1 when on a menu and the circle button is unresponsive. im using the default inputmapper bindings which is the same as an xbox controller. the controller works with every other game fine except for this one
