First of all i would like to make a few disclaimers; I have not read any of the Andrzej Sapkowski books. Neither have I finished the game, I am about 10-15 hours into the main story (so keep spoilers to the minimum). Huge fan of the first and really like the second game.
I have to get this off my chest. Because I have talked to my other friends whom have played the game and they seem too agree with me too some extent, but found the whole game more rewarding than me. So here it goes. Am I the only one here disappointed in the main story of The Withcer 3? I am not talking about the gameplay, the graphics or the world building, whom all were perfect IMO.
My main gripe is that the story of Wither 3 does not tell the story of the witcher Geralt of Rivia. It kind of dawned on me while playing the game. I would go around doing side quests enjoying the shit out of the game. Then when you meet up with Yennefer and start the main quest it slowly but surely dawned on me that this was not Geralt's game. It tells the story of Ciri and her struggle with Elder Blood and the Wild Hunt. A story on witch Geralt kind of feels like a supporting character.
Both the first and second game did not have Geralt in the center, but did make it feel like you were the main character which solved the ongoing crisis which plagued the area you played in. This game makes Ciri feel like the main character. She is only a bit unstable, but with the help of a witch to teach her to control her abilities and a pat on the back she could do all this by herself. I kind of don't feel needed in the story, except as Geralt the dad who cheers for his daughter.
Should i continue? Is there a change in focus later in the game?
TLDR: Stopped playing cause it felt like Geralt sits on the sideline of the story cheering his daughter to victory.

Don't feel the urge to continue the main story in Witcher 3 and it bums me out.
