I never have spent so much time reading in a game. The characters are the most interesting. A good chunk of my play time is rereading the character glossary as it updates whenever a choice is made.
If the decision I decide in a timed choice is based on my personal ethics, it's almost guaranteed to backfire. It turns out for the reason I choose to help whoever, that while he may have been the 'lesser evil' in the ethical regards that drove me to the choice; it seems he was the 'greater evil' in the bigger picture unforeseen at the time. Which usually completely conflicts with my original intention for the decision.
It really makes me think about causality on a greater scale. "Nothing is what it seems" seems to be giant theme in this game. This game is really moving emotionally, I can't say I've felt so immersed in any other game/or media. The story is so great because I can relate to many characters, even characters I dislike. I tend to have a shitty linear way of thinking, and this shows that nothing is ever strictly black or white.
Sidenote: I usually am hated on in forums in general because my grammar isn't very good, and I phrase things very oddly. I'm taking a regular undergrad College Writing class at my local community college, and it's been somewhat of a struggle. I think I've learned a bit, it's hard for me to put what I've learned to use in actual writing. Everyone is like right out of high school, and I'm a bit older. I feel like an oddball honestly, I didn't even go to high school after 9th grade (long story sort of).
