Gwent advice

I skipped over playing Gwent all the way up to the end of the Novigrad main quest line. I have done most other side quests to that stage and at the main quest due to head to Skellige.

Problem is i’ve missed all the Gwent games up to that point and not done any Gwent quests and pretty embarassingly not won a single game of Gwent.

So if I want to go back and get to the level of winning those games where do I go to and who do I play against that I can actually beat?

I have looked at other guides and found a list of all the best cards to buy and bought them all. Do they automatically go into my decks?
