Losing All Input Control During Combat

So I’ve been trying really hard to play The Witcher 3. At first I was playing with two GTX 670’s in SLI, and I got the freeze where the graphics stop but the sound and game keeps running. After doing some research and applying some of the suggested tweaks, I got past that one. Then, I started getting some pretty gnarly tessellation artifacts. So I decided to go out and buy myself the Christmas present of a brand new GTX 970.

Now, the game runs great on Ultra with Hairworks and all. I’m not getting any more freezes or graphical errors.

HOWEVER, now I’m getting a bug that I can’t find any mention of on the internet. Whenever I engage in combat, I lose all control input. My keyboard, mouse, and Xbox 360 controller all stop responding completely, but my system and the game keep running. This obviously results in Geralt being slaughtered like a dumb cow while he’s walking into rocks and trees, and I have to power down my system because I can’t even alt-tab or control-alt-delete out of the game. I’ll tell you honestly that I haven’t done a lot of trouble shooting on this one yet, such as trying different controllers or USB ports. However, I thought I would drop a line here and see what anyone might have to say.

I’m currently running:

i5 3570k

Gigabyte z77x-UD3

8gb Kingston HyperX RAM

GTX 970
